On behalf of everyone in the Carolina community, I know that you join me in offering sympathy and condolences for the victims, their families and everyone touched by the tragic shooting at a nightclub in Orlando, Florida, early Sunday morning.

Our community is shocked and saddened by the news of this terrible tragedy. As we come to terms with our own feelings and grief, it’s important that we offer our support and reach out with kindness and compassion to our LGBTQ community and everyone affected by this terrible event.

Many of you may be feeling unsettled. I wanted to let you know that Carolina has counseling services available for students, faculty and staff. During regular business hours, students are encouraged to call Counseling and Psychological Services at 919-966-3658. After hours, students may call 919-966-2281 for immediate assistance. Faculty and staff may contact our Employee Assistance Program at 877-314-5841, if you would like support.

Our hearts go out to everyone affected by this horrific event.
