Dear Campus Community,
Happy New Year! I hope you all had a nice holiday break and are ready to kick off 2018.
We had some exciting news over the break and we have much to look forward to this semester. Please take a moment to watch my welcome back video message.
Sincerely,
Carol L. Folt
Chancellor
In his remarks at Faculty Council on Jan. 19, Interim Chancellor Lee H. Roberts said, “There’s clearly no place for anti-Semitism or any other form of hatred on this campus.”
In a campus email, Interim Chancellor Lee H. Roberts expressed his excitement to join the University and wished Tar Heels a brilliant start to the new year.
“My advice to you is this: Go for it. Make this next chapter an unexpected one. You don’t always know what the future is going to hold.”
“Let empathy and compassion be your first and your second reaction.”
We write with mixed emotions to let you know that Vice Chancellor and General Counsel Mark Merritt will leave Carolina at the end of the year.
By now, I am sure you have seen that the UNC System Board of Governors turned back the plan presented by the Board of Trustees and me for the disposition of the Confederate Monument.
