Dear Fellow Tar Heels:

In fall 2015, carrying out a directive from the Board of Trustees, Chancellor Folt appointed us to co-chair the Chancellor’s Task Force on UNC-Chapel Hill History. Our objective is to ensure that everyone – students, faculty, staff, and the broader community – has the opportunity to learn about Carolina’s history, values, and contributions to society. We believe that knowledge of our past can help us build a better university for ourselves and the generations who will follow us. You can learn more about our completed and ongoing projects here.

We would like to remind you that the Board of Trustees has invited public comments on UNC’s Confederate monument at its next meeting on Wednesday, November 15. An open forum is scheduled for 9:00 a.m. in the Chancellor’s Ballroom at the Carolina Inn.

You may sign up here if you would like to speak at the forum. You also may email your comments to the Board at publicbot@unc.edu,or leave a hard copy in a box that will be provided outside of the meeting room. More information is available here.

Thank you. We look forward to hearing and reading your comments.

Sincerely,

Winston Crisp
