Message from Chancellor Carol L. Folt and Emil J. Kang: Arts Everywhere

Dear Campus Community,

Spring is always an exciting time of year on our beautiful campus, with flowers and trees in bloom and many activities leading up the end of the academic year.

This year it’s especially exciting because we are launching Arts Everywhere, a groundbreaking campus-wide arts initiative. Our goal is to enhance the way we embed the arts into the University’s teaching, research and service mission so the arts become an even greater part of our culture. Expect to hear about more new initiatives, programs, and events in the coming months.

We’ll celebrate this launch on Friday, April 7, with our first Arts Everywhere Day – and we hope you’ll get involved. From noon to 9 p.m., our campus will become a creative space for more than 50 arts experiences by 40 campus partners at 20 locations. From large and colorful spinning tops and brightly painted pianos placed around campus to pop-up performances and a hashtag Instagram mural, we hope you’ll see how the arts are indeed for everyone.

The spirit of Arts Everywhere Day is to cultivate curiosity and spark collaboration to enliven the campus, and carry over into all facets of life at Carolina. We believe this interdisciplinary approach will advance learning and engage our campus community with artistic experiences that embrace diversity and foster compassion.

Carolina has an opportunity to be a leader in transforming the 21st century liberal arts education. We hope you’ll join us at one of the many fun events, and see how this experience can help us move Carolina into the future.

Sincerely,

Carol L. Folt
Chancellor
